How to choose an office chair
Fit matters more than brand. Here are the adjustments to look for and how to check them.
Adjustments that matter
Seat height so your feet rest flat. Seat depth so there's two to three fingers of space behind your knees. Adjustable lumbar support that meets the curve of your lower back. Armrests that sit at desk height so your shoulders relax.
Mesh vs foam
Mesh keeps you cooler; foam feels softer. Neither is better ergonomically—the adjustments are what count.
Warranty and returns
Good chairs last a decade. Long warranties and generous return windows are worth more than extra features.
